Series of free lectures in June highlights Maine's history and present

Midcoast Senior College's Summer Wisdom, sponsored by Sunnybrook Senior Living in Brunswick, presents four free Zoom lectures and discussions that touch on surprising and little known aspects of Maine's past and future. On June 1, Jody Bachelder speaks on Samoset, a Sagamore of the Wawenock and his historical meaning dating to the early 17th century; June 8, Meadow Dibble's topic focuses on early 19th century Maine and New England's twin plagues; June 15, Mark Alan Leslie's talk is on Maine's connection to the Underground Railroad; and June, Erin Mangalam's presentation is present-day and the influx of asylum-seeking people in Maine.
