Western Mountains Senior College

We welcome seniors and those not so senior who would like the opportunity to continue learning in a friendly community environment. We have a wide variety of multiple and single classes, some member events, and some public events. We even have a theater group that provides a yearly show to the community.

What do we offer?

Typically, we have two eight-week terms, fall and spring, plus a shorter winter term. We have offered literature, history, art, philosophy, and creative writing courses. The mainstay of the fall and spring terms is Great Decisions, a direct reading – video – discussion offering about current world issues. We routinely have single one-off lectures on local interest topics and health. Since we are all volunteers, course topics and speakers vary greatly.

There is no testing, just enjoyable and engaging learning experiences.

Our membership annual fee is $25 and most course fees are $20 or less. Most of the one-off lectures are open to the public and free. Fees can be waived in special cases upon request.

We are an affiliate of the Maine Senior College Network

We are an affiliate of the Maine Senior College Network, a University of Southern Maine program. Our members have access, without separate membership, to the course offerings of the other Maine Senior College Network affiliates; course fees may apply.
