Melissa Record will cover some of the common types of fraud that have been circulating for years along with some new variations. You will hear some common tactics that scammers use and what red flags might tip you off that you’re about to be scammed. And, you certainly don’t have to be a senior to be worried about these risks - this program will be open to the public of all ages.
Melissa, a life-long Maine resident, has worked in financial services for 30 years, for several community banks and for a local student loan servicer. For the past 12 years, she has been employed by Auburn Savings Bank, headquartered in Auburn. Her responsibilities there include the loan and deposit servicing area of the bank, Bank Secrecy Act responsibilities, and overall bank compliance. This role has given her an opportunity to see many of the ways that fraudsters operate. It has also given her a chance to intervene on her customers’ behalf to stop fraud from happening.
