Caring For the Future

A South Coast Senior College Class

Starts on November 4, 2020, at 10:00 am. (Runs for 6 weeks.)


We will explore what is happening locally, nationally, and globally in regard to moving toward a climate-safe planet. We will look at the unique opportunities we each have to use our material, social, and inner resources to leverage toward a future that is more in balance with natural systems. The course will be co-taught in a discussion dialogue format using the Zoom technology for both presentations and small group conversations.


BERT COHEN lives in Portsmouth and has taught courses on sustainable Living and Systems Thinking for Sustainable Living at UNH for over 25 years. He was a founding member of the Sustainable Portsmouth and Sustainability Alliance. He serves in Portsmouth on the Mayor's Blue Ribbon Committee for Sustainable Practices. He is also on the steering committee for the Sustainability Alliance and Seacoast Area Renewable Energy Initiative. (SEAREI)


Glen MacWilliams, AIA

Glen has a BS degree from the College of Design at the University of Minnesota, where he was first licensed to practice architecture in 1986.  He lives and works in York and has been a practicing architect in Maine and New Hampshire since 1988.  Glen is a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, has an interest in family, reducing global warming, literary and graphic arts, permaculture, and motorcycles.


Fee $27 - Open to members of Maine's Senior Colleges.
