Coastal Senior College
The mission of Coastal Senior College (CSC) is to provide an open, stimulating learning community for intellectual growth and personal development for all seniors, and to their spouses or partners, who value education and have an inquiring mind, through courses, workshops and special events.
CSC is affiliated with University College at Rockland.
History
CSC began when a group of volunteers from Knox and Lincoln Counties met for the first time in the summer of 2001 to organize a Senior College in the region. The first classes were offered in March 2002 at University College at Thomaston, with an enrollment of more than 140 students. A fall session began in mid-September.
Membership
An annual membership fee of $25 (September 1- August 31) entitles CSC members to take classes in all other senior college locations as well. Membership is open to to all seniors, and to their spouses or partners of any age, who value education and have a inquiring mind.
Volunteer Opportunities
Coastal Senior College is governed by a Board that designs, publishes, and implements the policies of CSC. The Board also is responsible for determining and implementing the working relationship between CSC, University College at Thomaston, and the Maine Senior College Network. Standing committees of CSC include Volunteer Management, Financial, Membership, Curriculum, Publicity/Public Relations, Special Events, and Development. In addition, volunteers are also used in the office during registration, to help with mailings, and in other ways vital to the organization.
Special events, forums, lectures, field trips, and social activities such as the end-of-semester luncheons are also offered to CSC members throughout the year. Additional benefits of CSC membership include the ability to join the governing board and operating committees, and volunteer opportunities such as planning special events, assisting instructors, and helping with office tasks.

UCR is located just beyond that point on the right, across the street from Jiffy Lube. Parking and entrance are at the rear of the building.
From the West: Take Route 17 east until you come to the traffic light at the intersection of Route 1 and Route 17 — McDonald's will be on your left. Turn left onto Route 1. The Breakwater Building is on the right across from Jiffy Lube. Parking and entrance are at the rear of the building.
From the North: Take Route 1 south until you come to Rockland. Pass through two traffic lights (one at Harbor Plaza and one at the road to the Samoset). UCR is located just beyond that point on the left, across the street from Jiffy Lube. Parking and entrance are at the rear of the building. Note: Coming from the south you can by–pass downtown Rockland by following Old County Road (angles left just past Knox museum) to Route 17, turn right and follow "from the west" directions.
